Medical Device - 510(k)
The 510(k) process is a regulatory pathway for medical devices that are "substantially equivalent" to a device that is already on the market, also known as a "predicate device." In order to be cleared for sale in the United States, a 510(k) medical device must demonstrate that it is as safe and effective as the predicate device, but it is not required to undergo clinical testing.
The process for new medical devices that do not have a predicate device and are required to undergo clinical testing are required to go through the premarket approval (PMA) process.
Human Drug Commercialization
Pharmaceutical commercialization refers to the process of bringing a new drug or medication to market. This includes a wide range of activities, such as researching and developing the drug, obtaining regulatory approvals, manufacturing the drug, and marketing and distributing it to patients and healthcare providers. The ultimate goal of pharmaceutical commercialization is to make new drugs available to patients who need them, while also generating revenue for the companies that develop and sell them.
